HeartCode BLS
Basic Life Support (BLS) courses given by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) are sponsored by the American Heart Association. These course train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED.

**For those that don't meet this criteria your primary department will be charged $30.00 for the Heartcode.**
HeartCode BLS is a hybrid learning model. Majority of the learning is a self-directed online module, through the American Heart Association website, and can be accessed by logging in from any computer.
The learner may stop and start learning at their discretion. Estimated time to complete computer module is one hour. The learner then attends the skills testing portion at the scheduled location and time with an AHA instructor for BLS completion. Within 24 hours and passing all BLS portions, and electronic provider card will be issued to the email used in registration.
Advisor: BLS is to accommodate students who cannot perform the physical skills of CPR. The learner will complete the cognitive portion (assigned upon registration self-directed online module). Then attend the skills session and advise others how to perform CPR and use an AED. Upon successful completion of both portions, an electronic provider card will be issued to the email used in registration within 24 hours.
